Cancellation Policy
- Cancellation by Hirer
There may be circumstances beyond your control, which means you require a refund or part refund, and you may cancel with us at any time. The cancellation date is the date you tell us in writing, including email.
However, once the hire/tour has commenced, the Supplier is unable to offer any refund or part-refund under any circumstances and there is no refund on any part of the tour which you may not have used.
The initial deposit paid is non-refundable.In addition to forfeiting your deposit,the following charges also apply:
Greater than 93 days – no further charge
93 - 63 days or less – 20% of total booking amount
62 days or less – 100% of total booking amount
Refunds
We appreciate that there may be circumstances beyond your control, which mean you require a refund or part refund, and you may cancel with us at any time. The cancellation date is the date you tell us in writing including email. Cancellations are subject to our Cancellation Fees and Cancellation Schedule. Once the hire/tour has actually commenced we are unable to offer any refund or part-refund under any circumstances and there is no refund on any part of the tour which you may not have used. We recommend taking out the appropriate insurances when booking your motorcycle tour/rental.
Accessories
The Supplier holds a range of quality motorcycle clothing and accessory products which can be pre-booked at any time up to and including the time of motorcycle hire. Note side bags/panniers and hard side luggage is provided free of charge with any motorcycle hire if required. Any hired equipment damaged or lost will be covered by your Insurance Excess (eg if a cell phone you hired is lost, a replacement will be purchased using your insurance excess)
Age
In order to satisfy our insurance terms and conditions, riders must be over the age of 25
Agreement to hire rental vehicle
By signing the rental agreement the hirer acknowledges and accepts they have read and understood the agreement to hire rental vehicle and our full terms & conditions which are on display in the owners office and which are available online. These full terms & conditions can be requested at anytime and provided to the hirer via email, fax or post. The agreement to hire rental vehicle and our full terms & conditions can be updated anytime and it is advised that the hirer reads our terms & conditions before signing the Rental Agreement.
Breakdown
In the unlikely event of breakdown, so long as you are not in breach of our Terms and Conditions, the Supplier will make all endeavours to repair, recover or replace the motorcycle and/or accessories to enable you to continue your journey. However, time lost in carrying out such repairs and replacements cannot be recompensed by way of refund or extra days hire.
Changes of Contract
Changes to the contract are only valid in writing. Verbal changes are invalid.
Change of Motorcycle
If for reasons beyond control the booked motorcycle is not available at the time of hire, the Supplier reserves the right to substitute a comparable or superior motorcycle at no extra cost to the client. If a comparable or superior motorcycle cannot be provided, a pro rated refund for the difference in models will be paid. The above shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the participant to any additional refund.
Change of Rates and Conditions
Rates and conditions may be subject to change. Some motorcycles may have different specifications to those shown. All measurements and volumes shown are approximate and based on manufacturers specifications.
Damage or Default (see also under Insurance)
The Supplier reserves the right to repossess a motorcycle and terminate hire if the motorcycle is damaged and the Hirer has not complied with the terms and conditions of the Rental Agreement. The termination of the hire under the authority of this clause shall be without prejudice to the other rights of the owner and the rights of the hirer under this Agreement or otherwise (see Insurance).
Distance Charge
In the case of one or two day hires, a distance charge of 45 cents per kilometre will apply when more than 300 kilometers per day totalled is travelled.
Schedue of Payments
An initial non refundable deposit will be secured at the time of booking confirmation. This can be paid by Visa or Master card only.
A second stage payment of 20% of charges is also taken shortly after your rental is confirmed. The remaining amount is due 30 days before commencement of your rental. Your nominated Visa, MasterCard used at time of booking will typically be used for the second stage payment and remaining balance taken at 30 days. However you can also pay these by way of American Express, credit card payments, cash, and cheques if paying in New Zealand dollars. American Express credit cards will incur a surcharge of 3.1% on the total transaction. Wire transfer payments may also be used.
Driver’s Licence
A valid and non-expired, full motorcycle driving licence is required for you to go on tour or hire a bike from us, it doesn't have to be a New Zealand licence, but needs to be valid from the country you come from. We will need to see your driver’s licence and take note of the number when you complete the booking form. Please study New Zealands Highway Code which can be found online. All Riders must be 25 years of age or older.
GST
This is New Zealand's Government Sales Tax, and currently set at 15%. All prices quoted include GST.
INSURANCE
Medical Insurance - New Zealand’s ‘ACC’, Accident Compensation Corporation, covers your medical expenses for any vehicle accident you may suffer whilst you are visiting (see Personal insurance)
Motorcycle Insurance - We insure all of our motorcycles to cover vehicle damage, loss and theft. Before you take your motorcycle you will be requested to complete and sign an 'Agreement to Hire Rental Vehicle' form.
(a) Excess - This is NZ$5000 on all motorcycles unless a Collision Damage Reduction is purchased. This is lodged with us when you sign your Rental Agreement in the form of a credit card number, details of which will be held on the Agreement, with your signed authorisation. Whilst funds are not normally deducted in the first place, the Supplier reserves the right to to so at any time if deemed necessary.
(b) Bond - This bond is compulsory, NZ$1000 is deducted from your nominated credit card and goes towards the total excess in the event of an accident. When the motorcycle has been returned to us undamaged in good order, and in a timely manner for it to be thoroughly checked over by a member of staff, the Bond amount will be credited to the nominated credit card in full.
(c) Collision Damage Reduction (CDR) - A daily rate of $40 per day will reduce your insurance excess amount by 50%. This option does not apply to 1-2 day motorcycle rentals. Ther Supplier also reserves the right not to offer this Reduction to all clients.
(d) Minor Damage Insurance - A daily rate of $10 per day will cover you from damaged/flattened batteries, lost or broken keys, flat tyres and Kea parrot damage, if this option isn't taken these items are repaired at the hirers cost.
Damage & Incidents - In the event of any incident or accident, regardless of who may be at fault, the Supplier expect to be advised by the hirer as soon as possible. At this time an Accident Report From should be completed and sent to Head Office as soon as possible. Please note at this time an amount up to the total Insurance Excess amount may be deducted immediately. When it is determined by a reputable source that the rider is not at fault, this amount will be refunded. When it is determined by a reputable source that the rider is at fault, costs to repair/recover the motorcycle and third party will be borne out of the excess and any residual amounts refunded if applicable and when all costs have been fully identified. If the motorcycle, any accessories or third party belongings are not returned to our premises within the agreed date and time allowed, appropriate costs up to the full excess amount may also be deducted.
Riders under 25 - We cannot hire motorcycles to anyone under the age of 25 due to insurance requirements.
Insurance on Restricted Roads- our Motorcycles are only permitted to be ridden on paved, tar-sealed public roads. In any other situation the hirer is not insured, and this includes metal, shingle or gravel roads. Under no circumstance are any bike allowed to perform water crossings of any kind, this includes roads in flood with warnings from local authorities. For further information see Road Restrictions. Should it be confirmed that any damage to the motorcycle occurred whilst on a Restricted Road we reserve the right to charge the customer the full amount of all costs incurred. To assist with the recovery of costs, a sum up to the total Insurance Excess amount will be deducted immediately and an invoice will be issued at a later date.
Note:-
The hirer is fully liable and uninsured for any damage to the Supplier's Motorcycle or third party property if:
a. The terms of the rental contract are breached
b. Damage to the motorcycle is caused by careless, wilful or reckless driving
c. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
d. Driving on restricted roads (see Road Restrictions)
If you are involved in any incident or accident and there is damage to the hired motorcycle and/or the third party vehicle, the insurance excess amount will be automatically deducted from the hirer’s credit card account and appropriate monies refunded at a later date.
Travel Insurance - The Supplier is unable to give a refund once a tour or hire has started, under any circumstances (see refunds). Should you wish to be insured for this eventuality to cover items such as lost luggage or loss of motorcycle excess etc, travel insurance is recommended. Whilst every effort will be made to replace or repair a damaged motorcycle so that you can continue your tour, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you wish to be insured for this eventuality travel insurance is highly recommended.
Personal Insurance - Should you suffer an accident and you want private care you should arrange the appropriate insurance. The Supplier will refund or part refund payments only if a tour is cancelled before the commencement date, dependent upon timescale's (see Refunds & Cancellation Fees). Should you wish to be insured for this eventuality, check with your personal insurer that cancellation insurance is added to your policy.
Licence Requirements
A full motorcycle driving licence is required for you to go on tour or hire a motorcycle in New Zealand, it does not need to be a New Zealand licence, but needs to be valid from the country you come from. We will need to see your driver’s licence and take note of the number when you complete the booking form and rental agreement. If the licence is not legible or in another language other than English a translation, replacement or international licence will be required before you arrive. Failure to produce a licence that meets these requirements by law will mean your contract will be terminated.
Locations (Motorcycle collection and returns)
Our headquarters is located in Christchurch, South Island New Zealand. We have agents in Auckland and Queenstown, and other locations can be arranged on special request.
Minimum Rental Duration and Costing
Our minimum rental duration is 1 day and our motorcycle rentals are hired on a 24 hour basis, all prices are shown as per day rates in NZ Dollars unless stated otherwise. The per day rates decrease as the rental periods increase, special rates may apply for multiple bookings or long term rental periods. All prices shown include GST.
Motorcycles and Maintenance
In accordance with New Zealand Land Transport Safety Authority regulations, The Supplier is a transport service licence holder, and authorised to operate a rental service. We must ensure that all of our motorcycles are properly maintained and that any normal legal requirements are met. This includes paying all fees, and having the motorcycles available for inspection by the authorities at any time. All motorcycles available for hire are regularly serviced and maintained to a quality standard by experienced motorcycle technicians.
Multiple Rentals
Multiple rentals can be combined to qualify for a longer term rental rate.
Opening Hours
Motorcycle Pick-up and Drop-off is between 8.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday (after hours by arrangement). Sales enquiries are welcome any time and evening calls are welcome. Please check our local time (Wellington, New Zealand).
One Way Rental
One-way rentals are available between Christchurch, Auckland, Queenstown, and others on request. Rates vary, please enquire.
Rental Agreement
As the holder of a Rental Service Licence, the supplier and the hirer, must enter into an Agreement for the hire of the vehicle which is in the terms set out in the Annex to these rules in the Transport Services Licensing Act 1989.
Repairs en Route
If you need to spend up to $100 on repairs to get you up and running such as oil, or light bulbs, go ahead, we’ll reimburse you if you show us your receipts. For anything over this please contact us first.
Responsibility
The Supplier does not assume responsibility or is liable for delays, bodily injury nor for any damage or loss to personal effects, this exclusion is subject to any rights or remedies you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. We reserve the right to change or alter the Tour Plans at any time for the convenient operation of the tours and to change accommodation at any time for any reason. The Supplier is responsible for providing the services listed in the tour descriptions, supplying a motorcycle in good mechanical condition with current registration and certificate of fitness as required by the New Zealand Government and Land Transport Safety Authority for rental vehicles. We are not responsible, nor liable for speeding and or parking fines issued to customers by the authorities, anything caused by weather, acts of God, nor any other circumstances beyond its control. The Supplier is not responsible or liable for delay, loss, damage or injury to persons or property and illness incurred during their stay in connection with or elating to the supply or omission of air, sea, land transportation services, vehicle hire or of accommodation, meals, facilities, entertainment or other services provided by us.
Rental Days
Days are based on a twenty-four (24) hour period. A two hour grace period is allowed for late returns. Unless special arrangements have been made in writing, a daily rate of $500 may be charged if the motorcycle is not returned within the stipulated time (see Return of Motorcycle)
Pick Up Drop Off Auckland, Christchurch & other locations
Whilst our motorbikes and Base is located 20 minutes north of Christchurch in the 'Beautiful South', we can arrange motorcycle pick-up or drop -off in Auckland and other locations, just let us know your plans.
- For a 14+ day hire there's no charge for a relocation.
- Under 14 days we charge NZ$350 to get the bikes transported.
Return of Motorcycle
If a motorcycle is not returned on the tour/rental return date, time and location as advised on the rental agreement or as agreed with the Supplier in writing, we reserve the right to apply a penalty charge of $500 per day until the motorcycle is returned to our premises undamaged. This will be deducted from the security excess which is lodged with us before the tour commencement (see Insurance). All motorcycles must be returned with a full tank of fuel and in a clean and tidy state, penalties apply. Please arrive at least 2 hours before you are due to check-in at the airport, not depart, to allow for the motorcycle check off, any forms that need to be completed and also to allow for traffic during your forward transfer. Returning too close to a flight departure time may result in you missing your flight or delaying the return of your $1000 bond where your motorcycle hired will be checked at a later time by a staff member.
Road Restrictions
Our motorcycles may only be ridden on paved or tar-sealed roads. You are not insured on metal, shingle, or gravel tracks or gravel roads. In New Zealand you are prohibited by New Zealand law from driving any rental vehicle on the following:
• Tasman Valley Road (Mt Cook)
• Nevis canyon Road (Otago)
• Skipper s Canyon (Queenstown)
• Ninety Mile Beach (Northland)
• any unformed roads, including beaches, i.e. roads other than tar-seal and metal.
• through streams, dams, rivers, or flood waters, on flood prone roads or any roadway where the Police or any other Government authority have issued a warning, caution or severe storm warning.
Driving on these roads constitutes a breach of the rental agreement and the renter would be fully liable for any damage or recovery costs to the Supplier's vehicle or Third party property occurring as a result. In the event of a road closure please phone us for alternative routes you can take.
Taxes
All charges include GST (Goods and Services Tax). All rates and conditions are subject to change in accordance with changes in government taxes.
Traffic Laws
The motorcycle rider is responsible for all traffic fines. If the hirer does not comply with New Zealand traffic laws, the contract can be cancelled by the Supplier at any time and the motorcycle must be returned with immediate effect. Any Traffic fines can be deducted from your credit card excess to pay New Zealand Police or other authorities and a $50 administration fee will apply, to avoid this visit a Westpac Bank in the next town and pay your fine there.
Any claims or legal action in connection with the provision of our services to the client will be governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any claim or legal action against the suppliers is likely to be subject to the terms and conditions of our contract with them.

Q: Do you supply motorcycle gear?
A: We offer a full range or jackets, pants, boots, helmets and anything you will need for your motorcycle vacation.
Q: How do we get to you?
A: We personally pick you up, no expensive taxi fares required.
Q: Can my passenger ride in the support vehicle on tour?
A: Yes, our support vehicle isn't just a commercial van, we are 'P' endorsed and hold all required government certificates to legally carry passengers which is unique to our company.(You should ask this when travelling with anyone)
Q: Can we leave our luggage at your base?
A: Yes, we can securely store and item at our base until you return.
Q: When are you open?
A: We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 364 days a year, the main office hours are 9am - 5.30pm. We are closed Christmas day.
Q: Am I allowed off road?
A: No, all of our bikes are available to enjoy the open highways of New Zealand as road bikes only.
We can recommend off road activities at many destinations.
Q: Is there accommodation near you?
A: We have our own accommodation available at Mandeville Lodge, almost everyone stays with us the first night, this makes for a swift departure in the morning adding hours to the first day touring. If staying in the City or another local accommodation we still offer a free collection service.
Q: Can we contact a previous client for a reference?
A: Yes, with our clients permission we can provide contact details. Most people choose someone from our testimonial page.
Q: Is there wireless internet at Mandeville Lodge?
A: Yes, we have broadband internet with free wireless access anywhere on the property, we also have a computer avaialble in our guest lounge for anyone to use.
Q: What are the motorcycle licence requirements in New Zealand?
A: To be able to hire a motorcycle in New Zealand, you MUST hold a full and valid motorcycle licence which allows you to ride a motorcycle in your own country. An International Driving Permit will be required if your licence is difficult to read, doesn't show the motorcycle endorsement or is in a foreign language.
NOTE: You may only hire a motorcycle you are capable of riding, new riders or riders used to small bikes, shouldn't hire a large motorcycle for touring New Zealand.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.75% credit card charge will be added when your payment is processed.
A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Car rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 25.00
To add or remove extras to/from a confirmed booking: 10.00
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.
Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.

In the case of one or two day hires, a distance charge of 45 cents per kilometre will apply when more than 300 kilometers per day totalled is travelled.
Schedue of Payments
An initial non refundable deposit will be secured at the time of booking confirmation. This can be paid by Visa or Master card only.
A second stage payment of 20% of charges is also taken shortly after your rental is confirmed. The remaining amount is due 30 days before commencement of your rental. Your nominated Visa, MasterCard used at time of booking will typically be used for the second stage payment and remaining balance taken at 30 days. However you can also pay these by way of American Express, credit card payments, cash, and cheques if paying in New Zealand dollars. American Express credit cards will incur a surcharge of 3.1% on the total transaction. Wire transfer payments may also be used.
Driver’s Licence
A valid and non-expired, full motorcycle driving licence is required for you to go on tour or hire a bike from us, it doesn't have to be a New Zealand licence, but needs to be valid from the country you come from. We will need to see your driver’s licence and take note of the number when you complete the booking form. Please study New Zealands Highway Code which can be found online. All Riders must be 25 years of age or older.
GST
This is New Zealand's Government Sales Tax, and currently set at 15%. All prices quoted include GST.
INSURANCE
Medical Insurance - New Zealand’s ‘ACC’, Accident Compensation Corporation, covers your medical expenses for any vehicle accident you may suffer whilst you are visiting (see Personal insurance)
Motorcycle Insurance - We insure all of our motorcycles to cover vehicle damage, loss and theft. Before you take your motorcycle you will be requested to complete and sign an 'Agreement to Hire Rental Vehicle' form.
(a) Excess - This is NZ$5000 on all motorcycles unless a Collision Damage Reduction is purchased. This is lodged with us when you sign your Rental Agreement in the form of a credit card number, details of which will be held on the Agreement, with your signed authorisation. Whilst funds are not normally deducted in the first place, the Supplier reserves the right to to so at any time if deemed necessary.
(b) Bond - This bond is compulsory, NZ$1000 is deducted from your nominated credit card and goes towards the total excess in the event of an accident. When the motorcycle has been returned to us undamaged in good order, and in a timely manner for it to be thoroughly checked over by a member of staff, the Bond amount will be credited to the nominated credit card in full.
(c) Collision Damage Reduction (CDR) - A daily rate of $40 per day will reduce your insurance excess amount by 50%. This option does not apply to 1-2 day motorcycle rentals. Ther Supplier also reserves the right not to offer this Reduction to all clients.
(d) Minor Damage Insurance - A daily rate of $10 per day will cover you from damaged/flattened batteries, lost or broken keys, flat tyres and Kea parrot damage, if this option isn't taken these items are repaired at the hirers cost.
Damage & Incidents - In the event of any incident or accident, regardless of who may be at fault, the Supplier expect to be advised by the hirer as soon as possible. At this time an Accident Report From should be completed and sent to Head Office as soon as possible. Please note at this time an amount up to the total Insurance Excess amount may be deducted immediately. When it is determined by a reputable source that the rider is not at fault, this amount will be refunded. When it is determined by a reputable source that the rider is at fault, costs to repair/recover the motorcycle and third party will be borne out of the excess and any residual amounts refunded if applicable and when all costs have been fully identified. If the motorcycle, any accessories or third party belongings are not returned to our premises within the agreed date and time allowed, appropriate costs up to the full excess amount may also be deducted.
Riders under 25 - We cannot hire motorcycles to anyone under the age of 25 due to insurance requirements.
Insurance on Restricted Roads- our Motorcycles are only permitted to be ridden on paved, tar-sealed public roads. In any other situation the hirer is not insured, and this includes metal, shingle or gravel roads. Under no circumstance are any bike allowed to perform water crossings of any kind, this includes roads in flood with warnings from local authorities. For further information see Road Restrictions. Should it be confirmed that any damage to the motorcycle occurred whilst on a Restricted Road we reserve the right to charge the customer the full amount of all costs incurred. To assist with the recovery of costs, a sum up to the total Insurance Excess amount will be deducted immediately and an invoice will be issued at a later date.
Note:-
The hirer is fully liable and uninsured for any damage to the Supplier's Motorcycle or third party property if:
a. The terms of the rental contract are breached
b. Damage to the motorcycle is caused by careless, wilful or reckless driving
c. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
d. Driving on restricted roads (see Road Restrictions)
If you are involved in any incident or accident and there is damage to the hired motorcycle and/or the third party vehicle, the insurance excess amount will be automatically deducted from the hirer’s credit card account and appropriate monies refunded at a later date.
Travel Insurance - The Supplier is unable to give a refund once a tour or hire has started, under any circumstances (see refunds). Should you wish to be insured for this eventuality to cover items such as lost luggage or loss of motorcycle excess etc, travel insurance is recommended. Whilst every effort will be made to replace or repair a damaged motorcycle so that you can continue your tour, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you wish to be insured for this eventuality travel insurance is highly recommended.
Personal Insurance - Should you suffer an accident and you want private care you should arrange the appropriate insurance. The Supplier will refund or part refund payments only if a tour is cancelled before the commencement date, dependent upon timescale's (see Refunds & Cancellation Fees). Should you wish to be insured for this eventuality, check with your personal insurer that cancellation insurance is added to your policy.
Licence Requirements
A full motorcycle driving licence is required for you to go on tour or hire a motorcycle in New Zealand, it does not need to be a New Zealand licence, but needs to be valid from the country you come from. We will need to see your driver’s licence and take note of the number when you complete the booking form and rental agreement. If the licence is not legible or in another language other than English a translation, replacement or international licence will be required before you arrive. Failure to produce a licence that meets these requirements by law will mean your contract will be terminated.
Locations (Motorcycle collection and returns)
Our headquarters is located in Christchurch, South Island New Zealand. We have agents in Auckland and Queenstown, and other locations can be arranged on special request.
Minimum Rental Duration and Costing
Our minimum rental duration is 1 day and our motorcycle rentals are hired on a 24 hour basis, all prices are shown as per day rates in NZ Dollars unless stated otherwise. The per day rates decrease as the rental periods increase, special rates may apply for multiple bookings or long term rental periods. All prices shown include GST.
Motorcycles and Maintenance
In accordance with New Zealand Land Transport Safety Authority regulations, The Supplier is a transport service licence holder, and authorised to operate a rental service. We must ensure that all of our motorcycles are properly maintained and that any normal legal requirements are met. This includes paying all fees, and having the motorcycles available for inspection by the authorities at any time. All motorcycles available for hire are regularly serviced and maintained to a quality standard by experienced motorcycle technicians.
Multiple Rentals
Multiple rentals can be combined to qualify for a longer term rental rate.
Opening Hours
Motorcycle Pick-up and Drop-off is between 8.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday (after hours by arrangement). Sales enquiries are welcome any time and evening calls are welcome. Please check our local time (Wellington, New Zealand).
One Way Rental
One-way rentals are available between Christchurch, Auckland, Queenstown, and others on request. Rates vary, please enquire.
Rental Agreement
As the holder of a Rental Service Licence, the supplier and the hirer, must enter into an Agreement for the hire of the vehicle which is in the terms set out in the Annex to these rules in the Transport Services Licensing Act 1989.
Repairs en Route
If you need to spend up to $100 on repairs to get you up and running such as oil, or light bulbs, go ahead, we’ll reimburse you if you show us your receipts. For anything over this please contact us first.
Responsibility
The Supplier does not assume responsibility or is liable for delays, bodily injury nor for any damage or loss to personal effects, this exclusion is subject to any rights or remedies you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. We reserve the right to change or alter the Tour Plans at any time for the convenient operation of the tours and to change accommodation at any time for any reason. The Supplier is responsible for providing the services listed in the tour descriptions, supplying a motorcycle in good mechanical condition with current registration and certificate of fitness as required by the New Zealand Government and Land Transport Safety Authority for rental vehicles. We are not responsible, nor liable for speeding and or parking fines issued to customers by the authorities, anything caused by weather, acts of God, nor any other circumstances beyond its control. The Supplier is not responsible or liable for delay, loss, damage or injury to persons or property and illness incurred during their stay in connection with or elating to the supply or omission of air, sea, land transportation services, vehicle hire or of accommodation, meals, facilities, entertainment or other services provided by us.
Rental Days
Days are based on a twenty-four (24) hour period. A two hour grace period is allowed for late returns. Unless special arrangements have been made in writing, a daily rate of $500 may be charged if the motorcycle is not returned within the stipulated time (see Return of Motorcycle)
Pick Up Drop Off Auckland, Christchurch & other locations
Whilst our motorbikes and Base is located 20 minutes north of Christchurch in the 'Beautiful South', we can arrange motorcycle pick-up or drop -off in Auckland and other locations, just let us know your plans.
- For a 14+ day hire there's no charge for a relocation.
- Under 14 days we charge NZ$350 to get the bikes transported.
Return of Motorcycle
If a motorcycle is not returned on the tour/rental return date, time and location as advised on the rental agreement or as agreed with the Supplier in writing, we reserve the right to apply a penalty charge of $500 per day until the motorcycle is returned to our premises undamaged. This will be deducted from the security excess which is lodged with us before the tour commencement (see Insurance). All motorcycles must be returned with a full tank of fuel and in a clean and tidy state, penalties apply. Please arrive at least 2 hours before you are due to check-in at the airport, not depart, to allow for the motorcycle check off, any forms that need to be completed and also to allow for traffic during your forward transfer. Returning too close to a flight departure time may result in you missing your flight or delaying the return of your $1000 bond where your motorcycle hired will be checked at a later time by a staff member.
Road Restrictions
Our motorcycles may only be ridden on paved or tar-sealed roads. You are not insured on metal, shingle, or gravel tracks or gravel roads. In New Zealand you are prohibited by New Zealand law from driving any rental vehicle on the following:
• Tasman Valley Road (Mt Cook)
• Nevis canyon Road (Otago)
• Skipper s Canyon (Queenstown)
• Ninety Mile Beach (Northland)
• any unformed roads, including beaches, i.e. roads other than tar-seal and metal.
• through streams, dams, rivers, or flood waters, on flood prone roads or any roadway where the Police or any other Government authority have issued a warning, caution or severe storm warning.
Driving on these roads constitutes a breach of the rental agreement and the renter would be fully liable for any damage or recovery costs to the Supplier's vehicle or Third party property occurring as a result. In the event of a road closure please phone us for alternative routes you can take.
Taxes
All charges include GST (Goods and Services Tax). All rates and conditions are subject to change in accordance with changes in government taxes.
Traffic Laws
The motorcycle rider is responsible for all traffic fines. If the hirer does not comply with New Zealand traffic laws, the contract can be cancelled by the Supplier at any time and the motorcycle must be returned with immediate effect. Any Traffic fines can be deducted from your credit card excess to pay New Zealand Police or other authorities and a $50 administration fee will apply, to avoid this visit a Westpac Bank in the next town and pay your fine there.
Any claims or legal action in connection with the provision of our services to the client will be governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any claim or legal action against the suppliers is likely to be subject to the terms and conditions of our contract with them.

Q: Do you supply motorcycle gear?
A: We offer a full range or jackets, pants, boots, helmets and anything you will need for your motorcycle vacation.
Q: How do we get to you?
A: We personally pick you up, no expensive taxi fares required.
Q: Can my passenger ride in the support vehicle on tour?
A: Yes, our support vehicle isn't just a commercial van, we are 'P' endorsed and hold all required government certificates to legally carry passengers which is unique to our company.(You should ask this when travelling with anyone)
Q: Can we leave our luggage at your base?
A: Yes, we can securely store and item at our base until you return.
Q: When are you open?
A: We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 364 days a year, the main office hours are 9am - 5.30pm. We are closed Christmas day.
Q: Am I allowed off road?
A: No, all of our bikes are available to enjoy the open highways of New Zealand as road bikes only.
We can recommend off road activities at many destinations.
Q: Is there accommodation near you?
A: We have our own accommodation available at Mandeville Lodge, almost everyone stays with us the first night, this makes for a swift departure in the morning adding hours to the first day touring. If staying in the City or another local accommodation we still offer a free collection service.
Q: Can we contact a previous client for a reference?
A: Yes, with our clients permission we can provide contact details. Most people choose someone from our testimonial page.
Q: Is there wireless internet at Mandeville Lodge?
A: Yes, we have broadband internet with free wireless access anywhere on the property, we also have a computer avaialble in our guest lounge for anyone to use.
Q: What are the motorcycle licence requirements in New Zealand?
A: To be able to hire a motorcycle in New Zealand, you MUST hold a full and valid motorcycle licence which allows you to ride a motorcycle in your own country. An International Driving Permit will be required if your licence is difficult to read, doesn't show the motorcycle endorsement or is in a foreign language.
NOTE: You may only hire a motorcycle you are capable of riding, new riders or riders used to small bikes, shouldn't hire a large motorcycle for touring New Zealand.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.75% credit card charge will be added when your payment is processed.
A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Car rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 25.00
To add or remove extras to/from a confirmed booking: 10.00
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.
Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
Refund Policy
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
