Travel Insurance
We strongly recommend that clients ensure they take out the highest level of travel insurance. In many cases this will cover any losses incurred if you are forced to cancel your booking.
Security Deposit
Pre-authorization on credit card of the $2500.00 USD Security / Damage Deposit. The $2500.00** USD is the most the CUSTOMER would be responsible for if the motorcycle is a total loss. ** If the accident / incident results in the CUSTOMER being cited by law enforcement for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs OR for reckless driving OR the motorcycle is a total loss from riding off road (i.e. no police accident report) the Insurance Carrier may require the CUSTOMER to pay for the entire/total value of the motorcycle.
Travel To Remote Destinations In Alaska, Yukon, And Northwest Territories
** Surcharge: $500.00 for travel on the Dalton Highway beyond the Arctic Circle to Deadhorse / Prudhoe Bay.
** Minimum of 6 day rental for travel beyond the Arctic Circle in Alaska.
** Absolutely no riding or travel on the Dempster Highway to Inuvik, Northwest Territories on the supplier's rental motorcycles. No exceptions!!!
The supplier allows dual purpose bikes to travel as far north as the Arctic Circle at no extra charge. Travel beyond the Arctic Circle is difficult and dangerous especially if you are ill equipped or the weather turns bad. The supplier has seen the results of inexperience and poor decision making.
The road conditions and weather can vary significantly from day to day. While one rider may find sunny skies, dry roads, dust and minimal road maintenance or construction, the next rider may encounter rain, snow, strong cross-winds, miles and miles of construction with the road beds graded after applying 1000's of gallons of water, recent application of calcium chloride, extreme truck traffic, and the list goes on.
Due to the "endless" daylight that Alaska and the Yukon are gifted with in the summer, some riders will attempt to make these trips in just a day or two. So you mix extremely poor road conditions with an extremely tired rider and you have conditions for the "perfect storm".
The supplier understands the desire to travel to the end of the road but the road conditions are extremely hard and brutal on motorcycles. And sometimes extremely hard and brutal on the rider as well.
The surcharge is to cover the motorcycle preparation, extreme wear/tear and down-time. When the supplier knows this is your destination, they ensure the motorcycle is freshly serviced and has excellent tires. Upon return from a trip to these remote destinations, that motorcycle is out of servcie for a day or two while it is cleaned and serviced for the next renter/rider.
The minimum 6 day rental period is an attempt to prevent riders from over-riding the conditions and also to slow down to enjoy a safe and successful ride to the end of the road and back.
You might be thinking ... how would they know I drove the motorcycle to the end of the road and back? It is very, very difficult to hide that much wear/tear, missing tire tread, calcium chloride and dust. Plus, you would be riding an unprepared motorcycle! Let the supplier know for your safety!
FAQ
Please read before you rent:
Q: Can I ride anywhere?
A: Not quite! You may travel as far North as the Arctic Circle on the dual sport (GS) models. Travel beyond the Arctic Circle is restricted. If you want to travel beyond the Circle, there is a $500.00 USD surcharge. Additionally, the Roadsters (R1150R) must stay on paved routes at all times.
Q: Do the bikes have saddle bags, windshields?
A: Yes. All bikes are equipped for touring with hard sided cases and windshields. They also have the OEM tool kits. Most have heated grips and hand guards.
Q: Are the bikes in good condition?
A: Yes. They are dealer maintained.
Q: Does my rental include unlimited mileage?
A: No. The daily rental rate includes 300 miles. Mileage over 300 miles per day is 20 cents per mile. (Examples: 5 day rental includes 1500 miles; 10 day rental includes 3000 miles)
Q: Do you rent helmets?
A: The supplier has a few helmets that they rent for $5.00 per day that are available on a first come basis. Your own helmet probably fits better. Full coverage helmets are recommended. Helmet use is mandatory.

A: A rental day typically begins in the AM and ends in the PM. The depot is open 7 days a week.
Q: Is it safe to ride alone in Alaska?
A: Yes. The paved roads are well maintained, well marked, and Alaskans are very friendly. However, the supplier recommends traveling the unpaved roads with another motorcycle.
Q: What if the bike breaks down?

A: You can travel into Canada if you let the supplier know in advance. The supplier will provide the proof of insurance cards necessary to cross the border. The supplier does not offer roadside assistance in Canada.
Q: What about insurance?
A: Comprehensive insurance is included in the rental price. However you are responsible for ALL damage to the motorcycle up to $2500.00 USD. This includes traffic accidents, dropping the bike, rock damage and engine damage (like putting Diesel fuel in tank). Rock damage is NOT considered a normal wear item. Most insurance policies do not cover rented motorcycles, but a few do. You are encouraged to check with your personal insurance provider.
Q: Does your insurance cover all circumstances, situations and conditions?
A: Yes but only all resonable and normal situations. NO! If you have an accident and are cited for DUI (driving under influence of alcohol or drugs) or cited for wreckless driving and endangering others - insurance company maintains the right to recover up to the full value of the motorcycle. Additionally, if the motorcycle is damaged while riding on a non-DOT maintained road, trail riding, back country riding or off road riding - you may be responsible for more than just the deductible. Stay on the road and drive responsibly!
